Icy Bitter Cold Swim Practice – For the Love of the Sport

Video is courtesy of Jorge P. Fernandez Greenword Athletic Club / Greenword Tiger Sharks Head Assistant Swim Coach.

From Jorge P. Fernandez:

Last Wednesday Denver finally had a big snow storm with bitterly cold
tempertures. At Greenwood Athletic
Club the Greenwood Tiger sharks train outdoors no
matter what the weather. At the beginning of this
Training session at 3:30p.m. The temp was 5
degrees and at 5:30 it was 1 degree. Pool temp is 82 de-
grees, and as you can see part of the pool deck
is heated.

If you experience a swimming practice under extreme conditions, capture photos and/or video and share with SwimSwam. Free feel to give us a little write-up to explain just how extreme the situation really is. Call it: FOR THE LOVE OF THE SPORT.

Is there any minimum outdoor temperature for swimming? It seems a bit reckless to have wet kids go to the locker room to the pool. One slip and fall, could result in a fatal accident.

Just curious, I know this is common practice for many with outdoor pools.

Must be expensive to keep the pool warm under the open sky in such temperatures.
