Lydia living rent free in Lilly’s head, and without any ready-room scare tactics!

This is not her first rodeo. Lily has had several rivalries to deal with over the years. Just add Jacoby to the list. Jacoby is no more in her head than is Meilutytė or Schoenmaker.

Curious if King will do a full taper for OT. In the past, I’m guessing she didn’t have to come all the way down for Trials, but with Jacoby/Dobler/Weber in the 100 and Douglass/Nelson/(Walsh) in the 200, she isn’t necessarily a lock to make the team this year.

Three Olympics is a lot. I can’t imagine your fourth Olympics would really more special than your third.

Ya ask Phelps, pretty sure he would say London was less special than Beijing.

He does not mean for everybody but as a general consensus I would agree as well.

Since Lilly King mentioned Lydia Jacoby and not Kate Douglass, it seems the priority is the W 100 BR and not the W 200 BR.

It’s very interesting to hear Lily talk about retirement. It got me thinking about who would take her place. Here’s the top Americans in the event this year

Lilly King – 27 years old – 1:05.67
Lydia Jacoby – 20 years old – 1:06.20
Kate Douglass – 22 years old – 1:06.67
Piper Enge – 17 years old – 1:07.27

There’s not much depth in the 100 breast. Kate Douglass has already announced that she will retire when swimming isn’t fun anymore. That may be before 2028. Hope we have some newcomers for 2028 to contend for Olympic titles in this event.

Jacoby was 1:04 in 2020 and Dobler was 1:05.4 last year. Your list is weird

These are times from this year. Apparently I missed Jacoby’s time from the PSS. Dobler was 1:06.71 this past weekend. She is 22 years old. Looking forward to 2028, these girls in their 20’s may not stick it out… injuries and life happen. I am talking about youngsters stepping it up onto the international scene. Who’s gonna be next?

If Kaitlyn Dobler could ever put it together especially after four years at USC.

In the last year, Dobler has gone PBs in LCM and SCY.

Unfortunately, Lilly King has gone backwards since January:

W 100 BR
1:06.68 – 03/07/2024
1:06.53 – 04/11/2024

The trend is worrisome.

There’s also fast improving Emma Weber who just did a 1:06:50. I believe she’s 20 – finishing up her 2nd year at UVA.
