Fresno State, Wyoming & UNLV Claim Mountain West Weekly Swim & Dive Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State sophomore Aliz Kamar has been named the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while Wyoming sophomore Alicia Gonzalez is tabbed the MW Diver of the Week. Mountain West Swimming & Diving Freshman of the Week honors go to UNLV’s Dominika Trentkiewicz.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

ALIZ KALMAR, FRESNO STATE

Sophomore, Hungary/Szombathelyi Vizmu Sc

  • Led the Bulldogs to two wins in the tri-meet against Pacific and Fresno Pacific at home with three first-place wins and a fourth-place finish.
  • Recorded a season-best times in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.33) and the 200-yard breast (2:16.45), both were first-place finishes and are Conference-leading times.
  • Also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay that won with a time of 1:42.29 and the fourth-place 200-freestyle relay (1:40.43).

DIVER OF THE WEEK

ALICIA GONZALEZ, WYOMING

Sophomore, Canary Islands, Spain/Salesianos School

  • Helped the Cowgirls to a victory over Northern Colorado in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard.
  • In the 1-meter, the sophomore allied 319.65 points, surpassing the NCAA zone.
  • In the 3-meter, posted a score of 296.33, surpassing the NCAA zone.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

DOMINIKA TRENTKIEWICZ, UNLV

Swimmer, Opole, Poland/Opole HS No. 1

  • Helped UNLV to a 1-1 week with a win over BYU and a loss to Utah, the freshman recorded three individual first-place finishes, two first-place relay finishes, as well as a fourth- and fifth-place finish for the Rebels.
  • In the win over BYU, clocked first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (56.11), the 200-yard back (2:02.86), the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.29) as well as a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard fly (57.56).
  • Against Utah, logged a winning time of 56.10 in the 100-yard back, dropping her previous time by one-hundredth of a second, swam a leg of the 400-yard medley relay with a winning time of 3:45.66 and registered a fourth-place finish in the 200-back with mark of 2:04.50.
