Bill Rose, the head coach of the Mission Viejo Nadadores, has been named the head coach for the 19 swimmers aged 18-and-under that USA Swimming is sending to the FINA World Cup events in Tokyo and Beijing on November 9th-10th and 13th-14th, respectively.
This roster will include one of Mission Viejo’s swimmers, Katie McLaughlin, who was also on the Junior World Championships roster. Rose is best known for his work with open water and distance swimmers, but McLaughlin is as much evidence as is needed that he can absolutely develop sprinters as well.
USA Swimming chose the top-ranked junior swimmers, who made themselves available, based on their World Rankings. The women’s squad had to be faster than top 50 in the world, and the men’s squad faster than top 75 in the world.
This list is loaded with not only stars of the U.S. Junior World Championship roster, but a lot of the names that we’ve seen being snapped up by college programs in recruiting this fall. Among those uncommitted still on this roster is the Dynamo Swim Club’s Gunnar Bentz.

What would be your suggestion Lame?
leading on the international stage is not the same as coaching at home. Strong leadership from young blooded vets like Coach Rose is a necessity.
Actually, this is false. Jason Turcotte was the head coach for this trip for the past two years. I cannot remember the last time Coach Rose led a Jr Team trip.
