Sprinter Chloe Williams Commits To Queens University of Charlotte (2023)

Chloe Williams has announced her decision to continue her academic and athletic career at Queens University of Charlotte this upcoming fall. Williams is a senior at Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, and trains year-round with Swim Atlanta in Georgia.

Williams announced her commitment on Instagram:

Williams is a sprint freestyle and breaststroke specialist. She most recently competed at the Swim Atlanta’s Best of the South meet in March, where she earned her highest finish at 20th in the 100 IM (1:02.82). She also advanced to finals in the 50 freestyle, where she swam a 24.75 in prelims to take 26th.

Earlier this season, Williams set a slew of personal best times at the Georgia Senior Short Course Championships. She swam a personal best by nearly three seconds in the 100 breaststroke to finish 63rd (1:11.31), as well a best time of 1:02.29 in the 100 IM to take 34th. She also dropped a couple tenths in the 50 freestyle to record a 24.32 in finals, good for 15th overall.

Queens University of Charlotte is a Division I mid-major program that competes in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA). This past season was the program’s debut at the Division I level after being a Division II powerhouse for many years. The women ended up taking 3rd at the 2023 CCSA Championships, earning a total of 1119 points. 

Seniors Danielle Melilli and Monica Gumina led the sprint group this season. Melilli won the 100 freestyle at CCSA’s in 49.13, as well as took runner-up in the 50 freestyle with a 22.09. Gumina put down a 22.64 at the CSCAA Championships in March, while her season best in the 100 free stood at 49.04. Sophomore Ryley Heck was the next best in both events, swimming times of 22.75 and 50.49 this season. 

Joining Williams in Queens’ incoming class of 2027 is Maddie Foster, Hayley Ross, Ellie Friedlander, Libby Livesay, Maren Patterson, Izzy Cox, and Abigail Zboran. Livesay, a Kentucky native, owns the fastest 50 freestyle of the group right now with a 23.69.
