Middletown, Connn– The men’s swimming and diving team defended their CT Cup title for the seventh consecutive time in a down to the wire finish. The men had exchanged leads with the resurgent Connecticut College team through the three-session contest. The teams were separated by four points heading into the 400 freestyle relay, with the winner of the event likely to determine the winner of the meet.

The relay of junior Jake Kim, senior Bobby O’Donnell, senior Tyler Bland and sophomore Colin Twiss posted an in season Academy best time of 3:05.06 to take home the victory. The quartet were two and a half seconds ahead on the second place Camels.

The Saturday sessions were filled with highlights in individual events. Sophomore Sean Lyman posted two event wins in the 400 Individual Medley and a time of 4:07.03 and the 1650 freestyle (16:06.13) making Lyman the sole CGA swimmer to win three times over the course of the meet. Senior Tyler Bland flew past the field in the 100 breaststroke in 55.58, an NCAA “B” cut time. Bland followed the win in the 100 with a solid 2:07.14 in the 200 distance and the win. Colin Twiss swam to the win in the 200 freestyle at 1:40.40 (nearly two seconds faster than his 2021 time). Jake Kim continued his strong weekend with a second place finish in the 100 free at 47.02.
