Coach’s Corner
“Coming off 2 very hard weeks of training since our last meet, the team picked up where they left off.
The focus and energy were great from the start. The team continues to focus on getting out to a strong start and building from there. Every dual meet is unique and ebbs and flows differently and it was great to watch the team stay dialed in and take care of business.
It’s great to see many of the technical details that we’ve been working on in this intense training period start to carry over into our meets, but we still have a lot to work on and fine tuning to do as we prepare for our mid-season meet.
On the women:
Last year, our women traveled to BC and were beat by nearly 150 points, it was fun to see their work, dedication, and love for one another come together for a BIG win this year. It came down to the last relay and the grit and toughness of our team carried us through! Our ladies gave a few academy records a scare which is amazing given the time of year and where we are in training. Clara Williams, Molly Webber, Aurelie Migault, and Meghan Cole were huge today for our team and Melinda Zhang stepped up big time and had 3 great races to help our team come away with win.
For the men, they continue to improve, yet stay hungry for more.
It was awesome to see Owen Harlow become the first army swimmer to ever go sub 20 seconds in a brief, especially as rocktober comes to end. Our Distance crew was fantastic and continues to push each other to be better each day. Alex Edwards stepped up big and performed well once again, he gives our team some high-quality versatility which is always important.”-Head Coach Brandt Nigro
Cadet’s Corner
“This meet showed how much tenacity our team has, and I could not be more proud. The energy, the speed and the excitement is evidence that we have been working hard and pushing each other. Personally, my individuals went better than I thought, and I know from the past that patience in this part of the season is important. Regardless, the women’s team showed up and did the thing, now it’s back to work.”-Angela Huang
“Tonight, went great. It was amazing to watch all the hard work in practice my teammates put in come together for a BIG win. It was especially awesome to see the plebes step up and compete for those first-place spots. Watching Brice, Molly and other plebes competing for contested spots. I’m excited to see what the rest of the season holds.”-Alex Edwards
