WashU Men, Saint Louis Women Open Season With Wins In Split Dual

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis swimming and diving opened the 2022-23 season by splitting a dual meet with Washington University Friday evening. The Billiken women claimed a 136-104 victory, while the SLU men fell 123-91.

The women’s team won eight events, with three Billikens grabbing two individual victories apiece. Emily Leonard bested the field in the 500 free (5:08.03) and 1000 free (10:32.17), Kenna Cashman touched first in the 200 IM (2:13.45) and 100 breast (1:08.48), and Elizabeth Voss won the 1-meter (219.20) and 3-meter (197.25) diving events.

Elena Escalante captured the 100 free (54.71) and anchored the victorious 200 medley relay team (1:50.50) that also included Meggie McPherson, Cashman and MaryBeth Clark.

Theodore Ament led the Saint Louis men, winning the 200 free (1:44.52) and 500 free (4:46.24). Also turning in first-place performances were Jacob Wasserman in 1-meter diving (215.10), Brae Sanchez in the 100 breast (58.04), and the 200 free relay team (1:26.34) of Colton MosleyEthan HighleyJoe Feder and Logan Townsend.

The Billikens compete in the Butler Double Duals on Sunday.
