All week long, we have been covering the meet, looking for scratches between each session. There have not been too many scratches this meet.

The first two scratches of the day came from Jeanette Ottesen Gray of Denmark and Caroline Ruhnau of Germany. Jeanette Ottesen Gray scratched before the prelims of the 100 freestyle. Ottesen had the sixth fastest time entering the meet. From her twiiter account, she said, “Today I withdraw from the 100 free. I’m not sick, nothing is wrong and I’ll be back in [the 50 free] stronger than ever before.”

Caroline Ruhnau of Germany scratched the 200 breaststroke. Ruhnau was entered in the second seeded heat but decided not to swim the prelims. She was entered into all three breaststroke events and the 4×100 medley relay.

Camille Muffat finished 13th after her prelim swim in the 100 freestyle. She decided to scratch her final individual event of the meet, bumping in Evelin Verraszto of Hungary. Verraszto finished 17th this morning with a 55.08. Muffat will be leading off women’s 4×200 freestyle relay tonight for France. The team of Muffat, Bonnet, Lazare, and Balmy are seeded fifth.

Jeanette Ottesen Gray should really go by Jean Gray.

Shannon Vreeland should have done the same with the relay later in the session.
