NC State Swimming & Diving Complete Schedule For 2013-14 Season

SwimSwam College News: NC State’s swimming & diving program will host four home meets, travel to five away meets and compete in three invitationals during the 2013-14 regular season, according to the schedule head coach Braden Holloway announced on Tuesday.

“We’re happy with our schedule,” said Holloway. “It’s a good mix of quality home and away meets.”

For the second consecutive year, the Wolfpack will open the season by hosting the All-North Carolina Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. This year’s event will be held Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Oct. 5 with action getting underway in the evening on Friday and morning on Saturday.

“The All-North Carolina Invitational is a great way to start off the season, with a lot of teams from North Carolina competing early in the season,” Holloway added. “It’s usually a great spirited environment and a lot of fun and it’s in Greensboro where the ACC Championships are so it’s good practice.”

The Pack will not have long before opening the conference portion of its schedule, as it faces Virginia Tech on Oct. 19 in the first dual meet of the season. After a trip to Blacksburg, Va., State will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for a tri-meet with Florida State and Georgia Tech onOct. 25.

NC State opens its home slate with a tri-meet against Duke and Miami (women only) on Nov. 8, before returning to the pool the following day to take on UNC-Wilmington. In addition to the All-NC Invitational, the Pack will also participate in the Nike Cup Invitational hosted by UNC, Nov. 21-23.

The 2014 portion of the schedule commences with a trip to Athens, Ga., to take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Jan. 4. Other road meets include a stop in Minneapolis, Minn., to compete against Minnesota, Jan. 24-25, and then a short trip over to Chapel Hill to face UNC on Jan. 31.

“Minnesota is a powerhouse in the Big Ten Conference, so that will be a challenge and a new type of meet for our team,” said Holloway. “Going to Georgia will be another tough challenge for us since their women’s team won the national championship in 2013, but we really want to compete against the best.”

NC State will have two home meets during the spring portion of the schedule against the Villanova Wildcats on Jan. 10 and Virginia Cavaliers for Senior Day on Feb. 1.

The ACC Championships will once again be held in Greensboro, N.C., with the women’s swimming along with the men’s and women’s diving taking place Feb. 19-22, and men’s swimming slated for Feb. 26- March 1.

University of Minnesota will serve as the host for the 2014 Women’s NCAA Championships from March 20-22. The men’s championships will be held in Austin, Texas, on the University of Texas campus, March 27-29.
