Blattner, Gizzi & Smithbaker Earn Weekly Mountain West Swim & Dive Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State freshman Lindsay Gizzi has been named Mountain West Diver of the Week. Wyoming senior Katelynn Blattner earned MW Swimmer of the Week recognition, while Meredith Smithbaker is the Freshman of the Week.

It’s the fourth MW weekly award for Gizzi, second for Blattner, and first for Smithbaker.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
KATELYN BLATTNER, WYOMING
Senior, Wichita, Kansas

  • Helped lead the Cowgirls to wins over Denver (179.5-173.5) and Air Force (192-161).
  • Took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.56 (4:56.56 altitude adjustment).
  • Earned second-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:04.87 (2:03.27a) mark and the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:53.66 (53.01a) time.

DIVER OF THE WEEK
LINDSAY GIZZI, COLORADO STATE
Freshman, South Bend, Indiana

  • Clocked two first-place (personal-best) finishes on the 1-meter springboard (293.73) and the 3-meter board (311.93).
  • Earned NCAA zone-qualifying scores in both events.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MEREDITH SMITHBAKER, SAN DIEGO STATE
Freshman, Fort Collins, Colorado

  • Competed in the 100-meter freestyle twice on the week and won the event both times in the triple dual against Loyola Marymount, Seattle and Grand Canyon. Finished with a time of 51.23 on Friday and 51.47 on Saturday.
  • Helped lead the Aztecs to a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (3:46.36) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.43).
  • Finished second in the 50-yard free with a time of 23.89.
