Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Miami University in Ohio has picked up a verbal commitment from Mady Bachmeier of Cave Creek, AZ. Bachmeier swims year-round for the Scottsdale Aquatic Club and is a senior at Cactus Shadows High School.
I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Miami University. I want to thank my family, friends and coaches for helping me reach this point! GO REDHAWKS!
The Cactus Shadows senior is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. In November of 2020, Bachmeier won four titles at the AIA DII Swim and Dive Championships as a junior. She touched first in the 200 IM and the 100 back, and she was anchored both of her school’s gold-medal-winning 200 and 400 free relays.
In August of 2020, Bachmeier competed in one of her first sanctioned meets since the beginning of the pandemic. She picked up her first Winter Junior National cut in the 200 back (1:59.89) and she went a best time in the 100 back (55.67). Since then, she has picked up additional Winter Junior cuts in the 200 yard fly, the 200 meter fly, and the 200 meter back.
She traveled to Austin, TX in July to compete at the Speedo Sectionals. She finished in the top eight in the 100 and 200 back, the 200 fly, and the 200 IM. She went personal best times in a four events at the meet.
Top SCY Times:
- 100 back – 55.67
- 200 back – 1:59.89
- 200 fly – 2:00.64
- 200 IM – 2:03.92
Bachmeier will be a top swimmer for the Redhawks when she arrives in Ohio in the fall of 2022. She would have posted the fastest time in the 200 back last season. She would’ve been the team’s third-fastest 100 backstroker and 200 butterflier.
Miami University finished third at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships. Bachmeier would have earned spots in the A-finals of the 200 back and fly and she would have swum in the B-final of the 100 back and 200 IM.
The Redhawks had a strong recruiting year for the class of 2026. They have already picked up verbals from Madison Saldanha, Julia Waechter, Jenna Halliday, Caitlin Horn, Brooke-Lynn Clark, Avery Catalano, and Audrey Conley.
