Ella Harmon Set to Join D3 Simmons University This Fall

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

After graduating from Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas in the spring, Ella Harmon will be beginning her collegiate swimming career at Simmons University this fall. Harmon has also swam for Lakeside Aquatic Club. Outside of the pool, Harmon is a member of National Honor Society and has built up over 300 hours of volunteer work.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts!! I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for all of their support along this journey! Go Sharks🦈”

Harmon is a four-time Regional qualifier and three-time finalist at the meet while representing Byron Nelson High School. She also was a part of the program’s record setting 200 medley relay. In January, she finished in the top-8 of both the 500 free (5:41.80) and 100 fly (1:02.04) at the 2021 UIL 6A District 3 Championship meet.

Best SCY Times

  • 50 free – 27.67
  • 100 free – 58.17
  • 200 free – 2:12.02
  • 500 free – 5:37.40
  • 100 fly – 1:01.80

While Simmons didn’t compete during the 2020-21 season, the team finished as the runner-ups at the 2020 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships in their last season of competition. At that meet, the Sharks had the top individual scorer of the meet, as Aine Scholand scored the most point on her way to being named the 2020 NEISDA Swimmer of the Meet. The program also competed at the 2020 Great Northeast Athletic Conference, where they finished in first.

When she arrives on campus this fall, Harmon will provide immediate depth to the program in all of her events. During the 2019-20 season, her times in the 50 and 100 free would have ranked her among the top-8 on the team, while her 500 free and 100 fly would have been the team’s 4th fastest.
