SwimAtlanta’s Grace Drawdy to Stay In-State, Commits to Georgia Southern

For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey

From Cumming, Georgia, Grace Drawdy has announced that she will be attending college in her home state, electing to swim for Georgia Southern for the next four years. Drawdy swims with Swim Atlanta as well as for South Forsyth High School.

In February, Drawdy finished in the top-16 of both of her events at the GHSA 7A State Championships. In the 50o free, she stopped the clock in 5:12.23, while in the 200 IM she touched in a personal best time of 2:11.32.  A few weeks later, at the Georgia Senior State meet, she hit a lifetime best in all of her events. Her top finish at that meet came in the 200 fly, where she took 10th in finals in a time of 2:05.94. In prelims, she was a second faster, touching in 2:04.94.

Swimming at the state’s Long Course Senior State Championship meet this summer, Drawdy was a finalist in four different events. She earned second swims in the 200 free (2:10.98), 100 fly (1:06.92), 200 fly (2:22.94), and 200 IM (2:30.96). Her best finish was in the 200 fly, where she finished 5th.

Georgia Southern is coming off of a 2020-21 season that saw them take 6th at the CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships, with Florida Gulf Coast and Liberty tying for the conference title. The Eagles claimed just three medals across the meet, with all of them having been won by sophomore Annamaria Hornyak. In the 200 IM, Hornyak finished in second with a  time of 2:01.72. As a freshman, Drawdy will be right on the edge of qualifying for the C-final of all her events at the conference championship.
