Cal Women’s Water Polo Places 14 On MPSF All-Academic Team

The Cal women’s water polo team placed 14 student-athletes on the 2021 MPSF All-Academic Team, the conference office announced.

Recent graduates Claire SonneGeorgia Gilmore and Brigit Mulder each earned the honor for the third time in her career (student-athletes aren’t eligible as freshmen). Fellow 2021 graduate Cassidy Ball nabbed her second career selection, as did rising seniors Kitty Lynn JoustraCarson Broad and Cynthia Mulder.

Rising juniors Sydney HammillRuby SwadlingCaitlin Mary Parker AllenHelena BateyIsabel WilliamsShea Salvino and Cecily Turner each garnered recognition for the first time.

To be eligible for MPSF All-Academic recognition, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Freshmen and first-year transfers are ineligible for the honor.

The Bears compiled a 12-7 record in 2021 and finished the season ranked No. 6 in the country.
