Incredibly, Italian star Alessandro Miressi broke the Italian Record in the men’s LCM 100 freestyle for the 3rd time at these European Championships tonight. Miressi took 2nd in tonight’s final, touching 2nd behind Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov. Miressi’s time of 47.45 marked another 0.08-second improvement over the course of this meet. He entered the Championships with a personal best of 47.92, which had stood as the Italian Record in the event since August 2018.
Along with Kolesnikov, Miressi’s time was also under the Championship Record of 47.50, which was set by Alain Bernard in 2008. The swim makes Miressi the #2 performer in the world this year, behind only Kolesnikov, whose season best comes in at 47.31 from the Russia National Championships in April.
Here is a breakdown of Miressi’s 3 Italian Record-breaking swims from the meet.
