After the series premier of What Would Ryan Lochte Do last week, we noted that the initial ratings were pretty respectable. Premiers rarely make-or-break a series, though; the truth comes from how well a show can carry their ratings through to future weeks.
The latest Nielsen numbers are out for Sunday, and Lochte’s results were disappointing, to say the least.
The lead-in wasn’t as strong this week, with the feature film 40 Year Old Virgin coming before, but the overall Household rating (live, and same day on DVR) was .34 for the original 10 Eastern Time slot and .24 for the 11 Eastern Time slot. That counts out to roughly 336,600 households for the first showing and 237,600 on the second.
To put that in perspective, for the premier the number for just the first showing (683,000) was higher than the combined viewership of these to showings.
They really took a hit in the male 18-34 demographic. Unlike week 1, Lochte was actually outdrawn by Married to Jonas that followed it on Sunday the 28th, even with a more male-centered movie lead-in than the Kardashians special that preceded it on the 21st.
The strongest demographic continues to be the Female 18-34 demographic, but even Lochte showing his softer, charitable, more sentimental side meant still a very weak performance as compared to the Married to Jonas episode that followed.
A silver lining for next week’s episode, at least to the swimming community: teasers indicate a heavy emphasis on actual swimming and Lochte’s appearance at the Orlando Grand Prix.
I guess I am kind of confused about why anyone who knows anything about Ryan would be surprised by anything on this show. I missed the first week, but caught it on re-runs and then watched the second one on Sunday. I may be in the minority but really don’t care, it made me laugh a few times i may even go so far as to say as many as a South Park episode.
It is a window into what his life is like, that’s all it is supposed to be. I found it more entertaining than any Jersey Shores or Kardashians garbage show. I don’t think it is supposed to be any amazing show that all should love… Read more »
When I see or hear Ryan Lochte, I think of the “South Park” episode where aliens abducted John Edward, the dead stranger psychic, and awarded him the “Biggest Douche in the Universe” trophy. Ryan would so win this year. He is crass, classless and clueless. Although he may be prettier than Phelps, Phelps has him beat in common sense, grace, skill, relevance in history, achievements and intellect. Phelps even has a bigger penis in swim tights, yo. Lochte is just a big d*ck. Please cancel, please cancel, please cancel this dumb show after the next episode.
Ryan is as dumb as they come. Doesn’t take him much to look that stupid, he is a natural.
Blame Gregg Troy? For What? He isn’t even on the show. Some other guy acting like Ryan’s coach is on the show
I think there was much sarcasm in the previous comment.
^^^understatment^^^
Autocorrect misspelled understatement… Thanks Siri, ya drunk.
Blame the usual suspects: Gregg Troy, Regis Jesuit, and foreign college swimmers.
Hahah this made me laugh a lot. Sarcasm is great
In the last episode he was advocating being drunk at 10:30am on a monday… How is this good for swimming??
I don’t know if the TV show with Ryan Lochte is interesting or not, but what I know is I don’t judge the quality of a TV programme with the ratings.
I hope he has been on track in his day.job where he always gets high ratings when ready.
