High school junior Ryan McNutt from Painted Post, New York has verbally committed to swim at Penn State University beginning in the 2022-23 school year.

McNutt attends Corning-Painted Post High School where he swims on the varsity team. At the 2021 NYPHSAA Section IV Class A Championships, he won both the 100 free (45.77) and 200 free (1:40.47) with what were, at the time, lifetime bests. A year ago at the 2020 NY Federated Championships, he was 12th in the 50 free (21.39) and 7th in the 100 free (46.69). Those, too, were PBs at the time.
McNutt does his club swimming with the Corning-Painted Post River Hawks. He had a strong showing at Christianburg Sectionals in March, earning PBs in all his events. He won the 200 free, was runner-up in the 100 free, and placed 4th in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 fly in prelims.

McNutt is the second public verbal commitment to Penn State’s class of 2026. He will join Justin Schneider in State College in the fall of 2022.
