Hinsdale Swim Club’s Connor Groya has verbally committed to Minnesota for fall 2022. Groya is wrapping up his junior year at York High School in the Chicago suburbs.
I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Minnesota. Minnesota gives me the opportunity to train and compete in a world-class facility, with an amazing coaching staff. Special thanks to my friends, family, teammates, and coaches for getting me where I am today. I can’t wait to see what is to come in the next few years. Go Gophers!

Competing at the 2021 NCSA Spring Championships, Groya set personal bests in all three of the above events, while splitting his best relay splits ever in the 50 and 100 free.
Groya has improved immensely since the pandemic hit just over a year ago; as of March 2020, his lifetime bests were 21.6/47.2/1:42.7 in the 50/100/200 free. He qualified for the 2020 Illinois HS State Championships, which ran shortly before the pandemic.
Minnesota has had a thin sprint group for several years now, but that is beginning to turn around. This past season, freshman Lucas Farrar led the team in the sprint free, going 19.6 in the 50 and 43.1 in the 100. He scored at Big Tens in the 50 free B-final and 100 free C-final, improving upon Minnesota’s 0 combined points in the two events at the 2020 Big Ten Champs.
Groya joins Jack Ballard and Alec Enyeart in Minnesota’s class of 2026.
