Multiple Masters Records Set at Sarasota Short Course Meet

Six potential national USMS records* were set at the “Sarasota Sharks Take a Bite out of COVID Invitational” Masters swim meet, held April 17-18, 2021, at the Selby Aquatic Center in Sarasota, Fla.

Sarasota Sharks swimmer Mike Freshley shattered the 200-yard breaststroke record in the Men’s 80-84 age group with a time of 3:01.55, breaking the old record by almost six seconds.

In relays, the Sarasota Sharks were five for five in setting new national records in the 65+ age group, as follows:

  • Men’s 800-yard freestyle relay, 8:26.41 (old record 8:32.89, Ventura County Masters): Jack Groselle, Rick Walker, Kevin McCormack, Jeffrey Boatright
  • Men’s 400-yard medley relay, 4:14.62 (old record 4:21.08, Ventura County Masters): Jeffrey Boatright, Jack Groselle, Kevin McCormack, Bert Bowers
  • Mixed 200 freestyle relay, 1:49.07 (old record 1:49.23, Puget Sound Masters): Jack Groselle, Kevin Mccormack, Karen Einsidler, Nancy Kryka
  • Mixed 400 freestyle relay, 4:01.24 (old record 4:19.23, Palm Beach Masters): Jack Groselle, Kevin Mccormack, Karen Einsidler, Nancy Kryka
  • Mixed 200 medley relay, 2:03.10 (old record 2:04.19, Puget Sound Masters): Karen Einsidler, Jack Groselle, Kevin McCormack, Nancy Kryka
