OT Wave I Qualifier Will Hayon Sends Verbal Commitment to H2Okies for 2022

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sheboygan North High School junior (Sheboygan, Wisconsin) Will Hayon has made a verbal commitment to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University H2Okies for the 2022-23 school year and beyond.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my swimming and academic career at Virginia Tech! I want to thank my family, teammates, and coach for all the support throughout everything! Exited to be part of an amazing team! GO HOKIES🦃🦃”

Hayon, who swims for Mid Wisconsin Wave Makers, had a standout meet at the beginning of March, winning all six events he entered at the 2021 Wisconsin Swimming Senior State Championships. He was the highest scorer of the meet with 144 points and he notched lifetime bests in five events: 100 free (43.91), 100 back (48.10), 100 fly (47.28), 200 fly (1:47.02), and 200 IM (1:51.11).

A week later, he swam at NCSA Spring Championship where he won the 100 fly and was an A-finalist in the 50 free (3rd), 100 free (2nd), 50 back (9th), 100 back (7th), 50 fly (2nd), and 200 fly (4th). He lowered his PBs in the 50 free (20.16), 100 free (43.74), and 100 fly (47.21).

Even more recently, Hayon competed at ISCA International Senior Cup in St. Petersburg, Florida. He won the 50 free and 50/100 fly, was runner-up in the 100 free, and placed 3rd in the 100 back. He left the meet with new PBs in the LCM 50 free (23.52, -.4 second), 100 free (51.84, -1.8 seconds), 50 back (27.14, -.6 second), 100 back (58.98, -1 second), 50 fly (24.78, -.6 second), and 100 fly (53.77, -.24).

Hayon is now only .4 off the Olympic Trials Wave II qualifying time in the 100m back (53.37).

Best SCY Times:

  • SCY 50 Free – 20.16
  • SCY 100 Free – 43.74
  • 200 Free – 1:38.43
  • SCY 100 Fly – 47.21
  • SCY 100 Back – 48.10

Hayon will join the VT class of 2026 with Aiken Do, Carl Bloebaum, Landon Gentry, and Mitchell Stroud. He will join a stellar fly group headed this year by freshman Youssef Ramadan (44.32) and juniors Antani Ivanov (44.54), Dylan Eichberg (46.15), Henry Claesson (46.56), and Khalil Fonder (46.99).

Carl(47.42), Landon(46.41), and Will(47.21) – these three will be in ACC finals for four years in 100 fly! 2022 is looking good for Hokies fans. Yousef will still be there as well. These flyers hopefully can learn something from Conger and Schooling. Will Hayon should be at least mentioned in the next edition of the class of 2022 rankings.

Geez, VT said 6 guys under 47 isn’t enough (assuiming Will here makes a .2 cut eventually). Is VT the new 100 fly power house? (Conger and Schooling train there, as well)

Another stellar flyer at VT is Blake Manoff(45.50) He missed scoring this year(17th) but could easily find himself as an A flyer in the 100/200.

Will is going to be a great addition! VT is heading for the top 10 at NCAAs.
