VMI Women’s Water Polo Splits Pair at Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The VMI women’s water polo team split a pair of matches Sunday at Villanova University, defeating Mount St. Mary’s University (Md.) 20-4 before falling 16-12 to Saint Francis University (Pa).

Four Keydets had hat tricks against Mount St. Mary’s; Zoe Salafatinos, Gia Donatelli, Catherine Ahumada and Rachel Ahumada. Donatelli added three assists and two steals, Catherine Ahumada had two assists and Rachel Ahumada compiled an assist and three steals. Genevieve Petrassi had two goals and five assists and Caragh Osborne handed out three assists to go with two goals. Ellie Pickford had two scores and split time with Katie Lloyd in net to combine for five saves.

Sydney Shettleroe and Catherine Ahumada each had two goals and two assists against St. Francis. Maddie Berry scored twice and had an assist while Donatelli and Salafatinos each had two goals. Rachel Ahumada posted a goal and an assist.

VMI (1-2) is back in action next weekend again at Villanova, with three matches scheduled Saturday and Sunday.
