NCAA Women’s Day 3 Improvements

One more time, Nebraska coach Patrick Rowan brought the % improvements again, and this time the numbers were at least a little rosier. They weren’t quite at the level that we’ve seen historically, but 23.1% of prelims swims on Saturday were faster than entered seed times. That’s as compared to the 18.4% we saw on Friday. That may not seem like a huge number, but over 242 entries, that’s about 12 improvements – a significant number.

The 200 yard races performed especially well, with the 200 back and the 200 fly both having over a quarter of their divers improve. Rowan also pondered a question about how many teams totally missed their mid-season taper, and how many teams just hit it too early at their conference championship meets.

Best prelims session yet for improvements over seeds. Most improvements are in top 16. Makes me very curious to know what the percent imp is for seed times from nov/dec meets compared to feb meets.
