The day after clearing the British Record in the 200 IM, Duncan Scott swam another British Record, this time in the 200 free on day 2 of ISL’s semifinal #1 on Sunday.
Scott posted a 1:40.76 in the swim representing the London Roar, which cleared his 1:40.92 set at last year’s European Short Course Championships representing Great Britain.
This semi-final has been a bounceback meet for Scott, who to this point hadn’t looked as good this fall coming out of quarantine as he looked in the 2019 short course season. His previous best this season was 1:42.09.

Relative to his old British Record, Scott was pretty much bang-on his splitting until pushing past the pace over the final 50. Relative to his prior swims this season, Scott was a little better through 150, but the biggest difference again showed up in the final 50 meters, where throughout the season he’s faded, but on Sunday he actually got faster.
Scott also owns the British Record in the 200 free in long course with a 1:44.91 from last year’s World Championships. That comes among 10 total British Records, 5 of which are in individual events.
