DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke swimming and diving program will open the 2020-21 season with a pair of dual meets in November, announced by head coach Dan Colella on Tuesday.

“We are truly fortunate that, as a result of great leadership from Dr. Kevin White and all our administrative staff at Duke, we are able to compete this fall,” Colella said. “Though the fall season is short, the team is incredibly excited to open up with Virginia Tech. Sergio Lopez Miro has done a great job with VT and we expect the opener to be a thriller with a lot of great races. We then head to Annapolis the following weekend to compete against Navy, a team that we have not competed against in my time at Duke, and again expect a great meet.

“We have had a couple of inter squad meets and I know everyone is looking forward to competing and representing Duke University in the coming weeks.”

The Blue Devils begin the season at home at Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion on Saturday, November 7 against ACC foe Virginia Tech live on ACCNX. Diving is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with swimming to follow at 2:30 p.m. The following weekend, Duke is at Navy on Saturday, November 14 at 11 a.m., and the meet will be closed to the public.

Duke and Tech are scheduled to meet for the first time since the Blue Devils’ 2018 season opener when the women topped the Hokies, 172-123, and the men came up short, 178.5-121.5. Facing Navy for the first time since 1993, Duke’s men are in search of their first win over the Midshipmen while the women are 1-2 all time.

As previously announced, all Duke home athletic events will continue to be held with no fans. Schedules are subject to change, and changes will be published on social media and GoDuke.com.

Fans can follow the Blue Devils at GoDuke.com and via the team’s official social media channels, @DukeSwimDive, on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
