Waukesha, Wis. – Director of Athletics Michael Schulist is thrilled to announce the hiring of the next men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach, and 2003 Carroll College graduate, Guy Gniotczynski.
“I am very excited to welcome Guy to the Carroll family,” said Schulist on the hiring. “ I could tell immediately Guy was the right choice to lead this program forward with his vast array of coaching experience and past history with Carroll. It’s always a pleasure to bring a Carroll alum back home to help provide the best experience for future Pioneers. I look forward to working with Guy in taking the swim program to the next level.”
Coach Guy Gniotczynski is ASCA Level 5 certified and has been coaching since 1999. Gniotczynski returns to Carroll after numerous head coaching stints in the area, including the Head Swim Coach at the YMCA at Pabst Farms Swim Team in Oconomowoc. During the last three years, Gniotczynski saw increases in memberships over 57% and increased the number of swimmers who qualified for YMCA State Championships. At multiple YMCA programs, he has coached over 10 YMCA National Qualifiers.
“As a 2003 alumni, I am really excited to return home and be a part of the new era in Pioneer Swimming & Diving,” said Gniotczynski. “It is outstanding to see that while many colleges and universities are cutting programs in all sports, Carroll is investing in theirs and making the student-athletes a priority.” Carroll was a huge part of my life and my experiences here were incredible. I am humbled and honored to be selected to coach the Pioneer Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving programs and look forward to many successful seasons ahead.”
Gniotczynski has prior collegiate coaching experience in and out of the state of Wisconsin. Gniotczynski served as the Assistant Swim Coach at Willamette University in Salem, Ore. During his tenure, Gniotczynski specialized in the recruitment of new swimmers to the program, assisted with the creation of wet and dry work out plans, and helped facilitate camps and clinics held by the University. Gniotcznski grew the women’s program by 50% in one season and progressed the team up three spots in the conference standings. Gniotcznski also earned his master’s as the graduate assistant coach at Carthage College from 2008-2010. While with the Carthage programs, the men’s team won back-to-back conference titles, and the women’s team finished in the top ten in the nation with the help of the college’s first NCAA DIII National Champion.

I love that there’s a Pabst Farm Swim Team. When they host a meet do all the event winners get Pabst Blue Ribbons?
Way to go Guy! And for those of you wondering – its GIN-UH-CHIN-SKI
