Ben DuBay of Omaha, NE has announced his decision to swim for Hope College beginning in the fall of 2020.
I’m proud to announce my commitment to further my swimming and academic careers at Hope College. Thank you to all my friends, family, and coaches who have helped me get here!
In February, DuBay competed at the Nebraska High School Swimming Championships. He swam the 100 and 200 free, as well as two relays. The Millard West High School senior placed 8th in the finals of in the 100 free with a time of 47.75, after having gone a personal best time in prelims (47.09). During his prelims swim of the 200 free, DuBay earned a personal best time of 1:43.38 and he placed 3rd. BuBay will be one of Hope College’s top sprinters when he gets to campus in the fall. His 50 free time will place him 5th, his 100 free will make him the team’s third-fastest, and his 200 free will make him the fourth-fastest. His ranking in the sprint events make him a strong contender for the team’s A-relay at conference.
Hope College finished 3rd at the 2020 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships. Bailey Smith, Gabriel Boonstra, and Daniel Clyde were some of Hope’s top swimmers, each bringing home multiple medals, including a gold for the 800 free relay.
