315 Rising Seniors Already Verbally Committed to College Programs for 2021-22

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwamโ€™s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

We are not even halfway through June and already 318 members of the high school class of 2021 have announced their verbal commitments to collegiate programs for the 2021-22 season. Thatโ€™s about 60 more commitments than at the same time last year for the class of 2020 and 175 more than for the class of 2019 in June of 2018.

The explanation can be found in the shifting landscape for athletic recruiting. In April 2018, the NCAA changed the recruiting rules for Division I to allow official visits beginning September 1st of a swimmer’s junior year of high school. Previously, swimmers weren’t allowed to take official visits until after the first day of classes of their senior year. The following year, the NCAA adopted new rules allowing communication between coaches and recruits to begin on June 15 after the athleteโ€™s sophomore year of high school.

As a result, 16 of SwimSwamโ€™s top-20 boys and 17 of our top-20 girls have already announced their intentions. The programs benefiting from these early verbal commitments are:

The ACC clearly has the best coaches in the NCAA. IMAGINE the possibilities if they built new facilities!!!

I wondered how could that 1 Stanford recruit (divng) already know she got.in when others still didn’t? She announced it quite a long time ago too.

Thanks to Swimswam – great stuff for a college swimming fan. Do you have a separate list of D3 commits or still too early for smaller schools?

The ACC got great deal of the committed ranked men and women. Speaks volumes to where the conference is going.

Congrats recruiting ๐Ÿ‘

Let’s not forget, committing and attending are 2 entirely different things, especially with the pandemic and as time passes. I have seen a # of these kids already change their commitments and they haven’t started their senior year of high school yet. The earlier they commit, the earlier they change their minds.

According to Lindsay Flynn’s Instagram, she’s now committed to Michigan.
