SwimSwam Podcast: Davis Tarwater on Making the Olympic Team After Finishing 7th

On SwimSwam Podcast, we’re giving you an in-depth listen at all things swimming. Host Coleman Hodges welcomes guests and guest co-hosts alike to get perspective on our ever-changing swimming universe and break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

We sat down with Davis Tarwater, who shared his story of painfully missing 2 Olympic teams before missing a third but then making it after all. Tarwater talks us through how his 7th place in the 200 free at the 2012 Olympic trails turned into a spot on Team USA, and his long, long journey to get to that point.

Davis explains his training as an age grouper, including beating Michael Phelps at Jr Nationals, Swimming at Michigan under Jon Urbanchek and Bob Bowman, taking a year from 2009-2010 to study at Oxford, and finally coming back to the sport to train for a final Olympic push under David Marsh.
