Nicolas Tekieli Commits to Harvey Mudd College

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Nicolas Tekieli, a current high school senior from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, has committed to swim for DIII Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, CA. Tekieli will graduate from Hunting Valley University School in spring 2020 and join the Stags’ class of 2024.

Tekieli swims for local club team Lake Erie Silver Dolphins. At the 2020 Lake Erie Senior Championships, Tekieli placed 4th in the 50 LCM backstroke (28.08). He also placed 4th in both the 100 backstroke (50.39) and 200 IM (1:54.85) at the OHSAA State Championships.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also a Futures and Winter Junior National qualifier.

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to attend Harvey Mudd College and continue swimming with the CMS team. I chose Harvey Mudd for its incredible STEM program and all the benefits that come with a small liberal arts school. I felt especially welcomed by the community and the swim team, and I can’t wait to spend the next four years in Claremont. Go Stags!”

At the 2020 SCIAC Swimming and Diving Championships with the Stags, Tekieli would have had multiple finals performances with his current best times. Most notably, he would have been conference champion in the 100 backstroke with his best time of 48.33. He also would have placed 4th in both the 200 IM (1:50.32) and 200 backstroke (1:48.81) and 5th in the 400 IM (4:02.06).

Best SCY Times:

  • 200 freestyle – 1:42.26
  • 1650 freestyle – 16:49.44
  • 100 backstroke – 48.33
  • 200 backstroke – 1:48.81
  • 200 butterfly – 1:58.75
  • 200 IM – 1:50.32
  • 400 IM – 4:02.06

Earlier this year SCIAC Championships, the Stags placed 1st as a team by 14 points. The men’s 200-medley relay broke the league record opening night of the meet, and 7 Stags received All-American honors.

Tekieli will begin his swimming career at Harvey Mudd College fall 2020.
