Bend, Oregon’s Maria Wold Commits to Cal State, Bakersfield

Maria Wold, a current high school senior from Bend, Oregon, has committed to swim for Division I Cal State, Bakersfield. Wold will graduate from Bend Senior High School in spring 2020 and join the Roadrunners’ class of 2024.

Wold is a current year-round swimmer for Bend Swim Club along with swimming for her high school. Wold has been a finalist at the Oregon 6A State Championships and is a Sectionals—Federal Way qualifier.

“I recently verbally committed to Cal State Bakersfield! I absolutely loved the team, they were so welcoming and kind. I felt very comfortable, and felt like I could be a part of their little family. The coaches were super supportive and welcoming. The pool was also a selling factor, for it was super pretty. I instantly felt at home at Bakersfield and I’m very excited to wend the next four years there.”

This year at the 2020 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships with the Roadrunners, Wold would have had multiple finals performances with her current best times. Most notably, she would have placed 17^th in the 400 IM (4:31.94).

• 200 backstroke – 2:06.07
• 100 breaststroke – 1:07.19
• 200 breaststroke – 2:26.66

Earlier this year WAC Championships, the Roadrunners placed 5^th as a team and broke multiple school records.

Wold will begin her swimming career at Cal State, Bakersfield fall 2020.
