Arizona club coach Nate Moore has been officially rule ineligible by the U.S. Center for SafeSport after his arrest on sexual abuse allegations.
Moore coached multiple teams in the Phoenix area, including Scottsdale Aquatic Club, Chaparral High School, Life Time Arizona Swim Team and the Anthem Dolphins. He was most recently listed as the senior coach with the Desert Foothills Aquatics team. Earlier this month, Moore was arrested ty the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. A local parent complained to the sheriff’s office that her daughter had been involved in a sexual relationship with Moore from the age of 15 to age 17.
Moore is currently charged with 14 felonies. The county court website shows two charges of sexual abuse and a dozen more of sexual conduct with a minor. The charges range from November of 2017 to January of 2019.
As of April 17, he appears in the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s Disciplinary Database. The Center for SafeSport investigates and punishes allegations of misconduct among coaches and athletes in all Olympic sports. Moore is currently listed as “ineligible,” which typically means his window for appeal remains open. His entry also carries the “subject to appeal / not yet final” tag.
Per the Maricopa County Court website, Moore has already had a pair of hearings on April 4 and April 13. The next listed step is a May 27 initial pre-trial conference.
I always find it fascinating that a coach who misses a taper or keeps a board member’s kid off a relay is crucified on this site more than child predators.
If the charges are true, I hope this guy is never allowed to be around kids again.
Pretty sure your last statement is kindof a foregone conclusion?
I think the discussions about coaches who miss a taper or upsets a board member get more traffic because there are arguments on both sides. Here, I think (or would at least hope) everyone agrees that if the allegations are true, this guy is awful and should go to prison. There isn’t much to discuss.
This^
It’s a shorter conversation when everyone is on the same page.
I understand your point. However, I fear there may be other victims who have yet to come forward. His name, face, and story should be shared and discussed with hopes of bringing to the surface any other crimes he may have committed.
Coach – So true! I couldn’t agree more! I feel like it’s been hushed up in swim circles in Arizona. Why?
He had so many safe sport complaints he didnt renew last year. The club that his swimmers swam with allowed him to be on deck with no usa swim creds. This kiddie f$cker is the worse kind of coach that spends tons of effort grooming little girls and their parents so that he can gain unlimited access to them in private scenarios. Safe sport failed this swimmer along with who knows how many others. Btw he used to forward all the swimswam articles telling parents to stop talking to their kids about swim and would use those to get parents to stay away from practices.
So this guy was coaching Taylor Ruck as of four weeks ago?
