Denver Hilltoppers’ Megan Deevy Commits to UC-Santa Cruz for 2020

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

The University of California, Santa Cruz has received a verbal commitment from Megan Deevy for the fall of 2020. Deevy is in her senior year at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado. She competes for the University of Denver Hilltoppers (a club team based out of the University of Denver pool).

Another member of the University of Denver Hilltoppers is Colorado High School record holder Sydney Silver, who won both the 200 free and 100 back at the state championships earlier this spring.

I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of California, Santa Cruz! I am so blessed that I found a school to continue my journey based on academics, location, and swimming. Thank you to all my friends, coaches, and especially my family who helped me get here today. I can’t wait for the next chapter in California, Go Slugs! #goslugs

Deevy will be joining a UC-Santa Cruz team that finished 9th at the 2020 Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference Championships, a conference comprising of a mixture of DII and DIII teams.

Top SCY Times

  • 100 breast – 1:06.48
  • 200 breast – 2:28.73
  • 50 free – 24.70
  • 100 free – 55.33

With her best times Deevy will have the potential to play a large role in the teams breaststroke group, as well as being a strong contributor on both medley and freestyle relays. She would have finished in the A-final of the 100 breast and B-final of the 200 breast, finishing with the fastest time for UC-Santa Cruz in both.

Santa Cruz is in its second full season under head coach Matt Crawford. This season Crawford was awarded the Men’s Swim Coach of the Meet honor for leading the men’s team to a first place finish at the conference championships.
