Indiana State Sycamores Split Squad This Weekend To Prepare For Conference

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Swimming and Diving will hit the road to South Bend, Ind. and Valparaiso, Ind. The Sycamores will split squad with athletes competing against Notre Dame and Michigan State on Notre Dame’s campus, while the other half will compete against in-state and conference foe Valparaiso. 

Series History

Saturday’s match up with the Irish will be the second time the blue and white will face the Irish. Notre Dame holds the deficit 1-0. The Sycamores will face off against the Spartans of Michigan State for the first time in program history.

Christensen’s Corner

“This is our last dual meet weekend of the season, so will be a great opportunity to continue fine tuning our racing skills,” head coach Josh Christensen said. “We’re splitting the squad, which is a bit different, but it gives everyone on the team quality racing opportunities heading into conference.” 

Sycamore Leaflets

  • The Sycamores enter the weekend with a record of 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the Valley.
  • The blue and white fell at Southern Illinois last weekend in Carbondale.
  • Freshman Andrea Putrimas claimed two victories in the 1000 freestyle posting a time of 10:24.99, while claiming first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:05.06.
  • Putrimas has claimed victories in both events in back-to-back meets.
  • Sarah Moreau claimed a first in the 200 butterfly in back-to-back meets posting a time of 2:05.46.
  • Events are slated to begin in South Bend, Ind. at 12 pm et.
  • While events will also begin in Valparaiso, Ind. at 2 pm et.
