Olivia Anson Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior Olivia Anson has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time this year that an E&H swimmer has won the award.

The Apex, North Carolina native and three-time All-ODAC selection earns the second ODAC Swimmer of the Week honor of her career. She won all three of her races on Saturday including a pair of individual victories as the Wasps defeated Sweet Briar College by a 124-51 score.

Anson earned her first win in the 200-meter individual medley with a swim of 2:38.00, beating her closest opponent by 24.61 seconds. Her victory in the 100-meter butterfly came in 1:09.50, touching the wall 10.41 seconds ahead of second place.

E&H capped the meet with a win in the 400-meter freestyle relay which was anchored by Anson. The group went 4:42.37 to earn the ninth first-place finish of the afternoon for the Wasps.

Emory & Henry will next compete at the 2020 ODAC Championships on the weekend of Thursday, February 6 through Sunday, February 9. The meet will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
