2x Florida 2A State Finalist Taylor Warren Commits to North Florida

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

University of North Florida has received a verbal commitment from Taylor Warren of Panama City Beach, FL. She expressed her excitement, “I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic career swimming at the University of North Florida.  When I met the team, I felt right at home and I am so blessed to have the opportunity to swim for four more years.  Thank you to my friends, coaches, and most importantly my family for always pushing me to be the best that I could be. I can’t wait to be an Osprey next fall! S W O O P.

Warren, a senior at JR Arnold High School, is a 2-time Florida 2A State Championship finalist. In November, she swam the 200 free, 100 back, 200 medley relay, and 400 free relay. To begin the meet, Warren led off the 200 medley relay, going a 26.46 in prelims and a 26.64 in finals. The relay which consisted of Warren, Keely Stevenson, Isabella Gobel, and Marisa Ashley placed 8th in finals. Soon after, Warren got back on the block for the 200 free. She went a personal best time of 1:54.91 in prelims and earned a spot in the A-final, where she finished 8th. She later earned a bronze medal in the 100 back, earning another best time in prelims. Her finals time of 56.74 was 2.6 seconds faster than the 4th place finisher. JR Arnold closed the meet with a finals swim in the 400 free relay. Warren earned her fourth best time of the meet with a lead-off split of 52.91. Stevenson, Gobel, and Ashley closed out the race for another 8th place finish.

Warren is a year-round member of Panama City Swim Team. She most recently competed at the GPAC Gravy Bowl Invitational, where she competed in 6 individual events, making it back to finals in each one. Warren earned personal best times in the 50 free (25.13), the 200 IM (2:10.93), and the 100 breast (1:12.30).

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 back – 26.46
  • 100 back – 56.50
  • 200 back – 2:05.34
  • 100 free – 52.91
  • 200 free – 1:54.91
  • 200 IM – 2:10.93

At the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championships, Warren’s best times would have placed her in the A-final of the 100 back, the B-final in the 200 back, and the C-final in both the 100 and 200 free. She will get to train alongside junior freestyler Camryn Greenleaf for a year and she will be the team’s top 100 backstroker when Jacqueline Barklund graduates in the spring.
