Carson Foster Shoots to #2 All-Time in 17-18 History with 3:38.65 400 IM

2019 SPEEDO WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – EAST

18-year-old Carson Foster of the Mason Manta Rays in Ohio had a huge performance in the 400 IM tonight at Winter Junior Champs – East, winning the event in a time of 3:38.65.

That time moves him to #2 in 17-18 history, just over a second behind the NAG record of 3:37.52 done in 2015 by Andrew Seliskar. He’s also just the third swimmer in 17-18 history to go under 3:40, joining Seliskar and now-#3 Chase Kalisz (3:39.82).

Foster destroys his old best with this swim, a 3:40.86 from this meet last year, which had ranked him fifth in the age group, just ahead of Ryan Lochte. He follows up his Thursday night win in the 200 IM (1:42.43). Both of those swims broke his own overall Winter Junior Champs records.
