Editor’s note: the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)’s rankings track dual meet strength, specifically. That is, a higher-ranked team is expected to win in a head-to-head dual meet with a lower-ranked team, according to the voters. These rankings aren’t an NCAA finish prediction – for a ranking closer to that model, check out SwimSwam’s Power Rankings.
The California women overtook Florida in what’s been a tumultuous season for CSCAA rankings. Three different programs have held #1 women’s ranks across four rounds of the poll.
Former #1 Florida has fallen all the way to #7, while Cal rose from #3 to take their spot at the top. The men’s side is the polar opposite, with #1 Texas and #2 Cal maintaining their spots, which both programs have held since November. Prior to that, Cal was #1 and Texas #2 for the first two rounds of rankings.

By the way, no offense to Braden and John as they probably know more about whats going on than most coaches do… but this is the COACHES Poll…. and coaches of college teams they are not. I also know for a fact that the “coaches” poll in football and basketball are not done by coaches, but by the SID and whoever is assigned that sport…. I can only assume the same is true …. I will wait and put more faith into the power rankings that Mr Keith among others put out shortly.
I hate to agree with Pack Attack above there, but they are at #6 on both the men and women’s side?? Really?!?! Also, UVA women behind TN? Really?? Y’all need a wake up call or something… because none of those things are ever happening during this season. Let me just throw in how highly ranked unc is too… that is a joke as well. Sure they are on the upswing with new coaches and such… but they have not achieved that much yet to garner a ranking.
…Houston girls are killing it so much lately that they even get votes in the men’s poll. PSA to the coaches who voted: Houston doesn’t have a men’s team.

Cal is a championship season team and often overlooked this time of the year… this could really be their year to take it if they show up to NCAAs like they have in the past years!
Cal men def didn’t show their cards last week. Will be another great meet. They may need to go 22up again if they want to hold off Texas.who could very well score all the swimmers they bring. Already excited!
Was talking more about the women’s side, but completely agree! Men’s meet looking like it’s shaping up to be an exciting battle.
