Boston College Men & Women Earn Wins At Terrier Invite

BOSTON – The Boston College swim and dive teams put on a record-breaking effort en route to overall wins at the annual Terrier Invitational this weekend, hosted by Boston University. The men’s team racked up 1192 total points as the women earned 997, capturing wins over Georgetown, Massachusetts, Northeastern, New Hampshire and Boston University. Matt Clark and Maura Grimes both had US Open qualifying performances over the three day meet while Dale Nickerson qualified for the NCAA Zone A.

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • The relay team of Ashleigh ScottAli Kea, Sofia Zinia and Haley Dolan placed first in the 200 freestyle relay, clocking in at 1:32.48 for the fastest time in program history.
  • Grimes, Taylor CovingtonVictoria Lin and Dolan also earned the overall win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.81.
  • Lin placed first overall in the 100 butterfly with a 55.22 finish. Mary Kate Gannon followed closely behind for second place, finishing in 55.33.
  • Lin also took first place in the 200 butterfly, setting an all-time program record with a 2:01.65 finish.
  • Grimes placed first in the 100 backstroke with a 54.69 performance, claiming the all-time program record and qualifying to compete at the US Open.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • The team of Damion Geoghegan RibeiroSam RochePaul Boyce and Michael Hinton placed first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:22.31.
  • Roche placed first in the 50 freestyle (20.62) and 100 freestyle (45.88). Max Threlkeld (46.31) and Michael Hinton (46.46) placed second and third in the 100 freestyle to follow behind.
  • Roche also won the 100 butterfly, finishing in 49.39.
  • Clark, Roche, Hinton and Threlkeld won the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:00.05 finish.
  • Nickerson placed first in both the 1-and 3-meter dives, earning 280.15 and 312.50 points, respectively.
