INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy swimming & diving continued their impressive season with an emphatic showing over the weekend, emerging as the victor against all teams in the two day meet. The No. 7-ranked women swept Butler, Bellarmine and Lewis on Friday and Saturday, while the No. 2-ranked men took wins against No. 12 Missouri S&T, Lewis and Bellarmine.

The women were led by Mariia Rezhylo as she pulled in seven different wins along the weekend. Rezhylo’s victories came in the 400 medley relay (3:50.55), 50 free (23.81), 100 breast (1:03.88), 200 free relay (1:35.16), 200 medley relay (1:45.11), 100 free (51.9) and the 400 free relay (3:30.11). Several of Rezhylo’s times also surpassed the NCAA B standards, including the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 breast. The women featured two more Greyhounds that achieved B-cut standards in Edda Skoric in the 200 back and Cassie Kury on the one-meter board. The team also included five other Greyhounds who took home multiple wins over the weekend, including Marizel van Jaarsveld (four), Krystal Caylor (four), Leticia Vaselli (four), Skoric (two) and Darian Murray (two).

“As we continue to stay undefeated, we’re looking great as a team so far,” explains Rezhylo. “We had several events where we ended first and second, and it brings a ton of excitement going into House of Champions.”

Payton Staman highlighted the men’s team with another school-record on the early season, breaking his best one-meter six-dive UIndy score. His score of 375.82 points now ranks as the best performance in team history. The men included a plethora of multi-winners as well, including Jeron Thompson ending the weekend with six top finishes. The freshman from Trinidad & Tobago landed wins in the 400 medley relay (3:22.86), 100 breast (56.69), 200 free relay (1:21.95), 200 medley relay (1:30.23), 100 IM (51.13) and the 400 free relay (3:04.62). The Greyhounds boasted 14 different student-athletes who took home victories, including multi-winners Victor Antonon (four), Ante Lucev (three), Kael Yorke (three) and Jan Zuchowicz (two). UIndy featured seven men total with NCAA Standards, including Cody Liske (1000 free), Christian Hedeen (500 free), Payton Staman (one and three-meter), Cade Hammond (one and three-meter), Jason Lenzo (one and three-meter), Josh Zylstra (one-meter) and Benjamin Rader (one-meter).

“The spirit of camaraderie and resilience in my teammates were so high this weekend,” describes Thompson. “We’ve had so many tough weeks of training and competition leading up to today, and we’re ready to sharpen our skills for House of Champions in two weeks.”

The swimming and diving teams will now prepare for the mid season madness at the annual House of Champions Invitational. The meet will be hosted by IUPUI at the downtown Natatorium, and will take place Friday, Nov 22 through Sunday, Nov 24. The prelims session on Nov 22 starts at 10 a.m. on ESPN3.

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler competed in the University of Indianapolis Invitational over the weekend. The two-day event included Butler, UIndy, Lewis and Bellarmine.

400 Yard IM
Allie Carmichael won the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:46.73.

400 Yard Medley Relay
Butler placed fifth in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. The team of Hannah PughAllie CarmichaelAnnah Van Gheem and Madison Himler posted a time of 4:08.37.

1000 Yard Free
Emma Harris was the top performer for Butler in the 1000 Yard Free. She clocked a time of 10:59.04 for fourth place. Colleen Carey was close behind in sixth place with a time of 11:08.09.

200 Yard IM
Four Bulldog swimmers placed their name in the top-ten in the 200 Yard IM. Hannah Pugh was the top finisher in fifth place with a time of 2:15.06. Alexis FaithMadison Himler, and Myranda Valeiras finished in a pack taking 8th-10th.

50 Yard Free
Madison Himler and Isabel Heitmeyer were the top BU sprinters in the 50 Yard Free. Himler finished 10th with a time of 25.25. Heitmeyer was nearly identical at 25.51 for 11th.

100 Yard Breast
Natalie Rohweder earned a top-ten finish in the 100 Yard Breast. Her time of 1:09.16 landed her in eighth place.

100 Yard Back
Hannah Pugh enjoyed a fourth place finish for Butler in the 100 Yard Back (1:00.72).

200 Yard Fly
Emma Harris and Annah Van Gheem were great for Butler in the 200 Yard Fly. Harris earned third place with a time of 2:12.98. Van Gheem was right behind her in fourth with a time of 2:13.81.

200 Yard Free Relay
Madison HimlerAnnah Van Gheem, Abigial Roberts and Isabel Heitmeyer helped Butler take fourth place in the 200 Yard Free Relay with a time of 1:40.60.

200 Yard Medley Relay
Megan HansonAllie CarmichaelHannah Pugh and Isabel Heitmeyer earned fifth place for Butler in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. They clocked in with a time of 1:53.23.

500 Yard Free
Megan Hanson and Emma Harris were the top BU swimmers in the 500 Yard Free. Hanson finished seventh (5:19.46) and Harris followed in eighth (5:25.02).

100 Yard Fly
Butler had three top-ten finishers in the 100 Yard Fly over the weekend. Annah Van Gheem (1:00.38) and Hannah Pugh (1:00.82) finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh. Madison Himler placed ninth with a time of 1:01.52.

100 Yard IM
A total team effort helped Butler swim well in the 100 Yard IM. Megan Hanson was the first of five-straight Bulldogs to touch the wall in the event. Hanson earned fifth (1:05.50), Abigal Nebot placed sixth (1:05.54), Issy Petersen finished seventh (1:05.56), Natalie Rohweder in eighth (1:05.68) and Carson Middlebrook in ninth (1:05.81).

200 Yard Breast
Allie Carmichael and Abigail Nebot represented BU in the 200 Yard Breast. They finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth. Carmichael clocked a time of 2:32.95. Nebot finished in 2:33.67.

400 Yard Free Relay
Megan HansonAnnah Van GheemIsabel Heitmeyer and Madison Himler were the BU swimmers involved in the 400 Yard Free Relay. They posted a time of 3:44.11 for fourth place.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lewis University’s women’s swimming team competed at the University of Indianapolis Quad Meet this past Friday and Saturday at the Ruth Lilly Center Poll in Indianapolis, Ind. The Flyers knocked off Butler 180-137 but was defeated by the host Greyhounds 277-79 and Bellarmine 188-149.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bellarmine University swimming teams competed Friday and Saturday in the UIndy Quad Meet.

Bellarmine’s men faced GLVC rivals UIndy, Lewis and Missouri S&T. The Knights women took on UIndy, Lewis and Division I Butler.

Junior Sophia Noren captured top honors in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.31). It was one of five events in which Bellarmine’s women had three finish in the top 8 en route to a 188-149 win over Lewis and 182-156 victory over Butler. Sophomore Elizabeth Schrenger was fourth and freshman Megan Schroeder was fifth. That same trio was involved in the 100 breaststroke, with Soren taking second, Schroeder third and Schrenger sixth.

Sophomore Avery Witcher was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly, freshman Anna Holt took fifth and sophomore Maya Sorensen was sixth. Witcher, Schroeder and Holt placed second, third and fourth in the 400 individual medley, while Sorensen, freshman Olivia Hopper and junior Haley Todd secured fifth, sixth and eighth in the 100 backstroke.

Sophomore Rachel Walker placed second in both the 500 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle. She was also fifth in both the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Walker, Sorensen, Noren and senior Grace Roegner captured runner-up honors in the 400 medley relay and took third in the 200 medley relay.

Sorensen and Hopper were seventh and eighth in the 200 backstroke, Schroeder placed seventh in the 200 individual medley and Roegner finished eighth in the 50 freestyle. Roegner, sophomore Meghann McLaughlin, Noren and Walker took fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.

On the men’s side, sophomore Daniel Sims placed third in the 200 breaststroke, fourth in the 400 individual medley and fifth in the 200 individual medley. Sophomore Matthew Sims finished sixth in the 100 individual medley and eighth in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

Junior Ty Grubb placed sixth in the 200 breaststroke and seventh in the 100 breaststroke. Senior Evan Shive placed sixth in the 100 butterfly and junior Jeffrey Owen was seventh in the 200 backstroke.
