Question: Who will win the European ISL derby?
- London Roar – 57.5%
- Energy Standard – 37.1%
- Iron – 3.8%
- Aqua Centurions – 1.5%
A little more than half of voters expected the London Roar to win the European ISL derby, a much lower number than those who picked the Cali Condors to win the American derby. (That group totaled 72% of voters in last week’s poll, with the LA Current getting only 19%).
London dominated both Group B matches with its strong roster made up mostly of Australian and British swimmers. London even won the first Group B match in Lewisville while swimming without several of their top British stars, such as Adam Peaty and James Guy.
Energy Standard won both Group A matches, and gained 37.1% of the votes here. Their tough roster of mostly European athletes is led by Sarah Sjostrom, Chad le Clos and Florent Manaudou.
Iron got just 3.8% of the votes. That speaks more to how good the top two teams are in the European derby. Iron was 3rd in the first Group B match and actually moved up to 2nd in the second match, passing the top American team, the LA Current. Iron has a more distance-oriented roster, though they have two of the top overall sprinters in Vladimir Morozov and Ranomi Kromowidjojo.
The Aqua Centurions only gained 1.5% of the votes – just 8 total votes. That’s a meager amount compared to the 3% (41 total votes) that the last-place New York Breakers got in the American poll. That also highlights the extreme difference in voting between the two polls: the American derby poll gained more than 1300 votes, far more than double the total votes for the European poll. Both polls ran for exactly one week.

Contrary to the polls, unless London have a drop off in form the American Derby will probably be closer than the Euro Derby.
They were probably thinking about how Energy Standard also won two matches and leads the total point standings among all teams. But London Roar is way too strong and has to be the favorite.
