How To Watch The 2019 USA Swimming Junior National Championships

2019 USA Swimming Junior National Championships

USA Swimming will live stream all sessions of the 2019 Junior National Championships, unlike the senior national meet, which had sessions (and heats) split between USA Swimming and NBC Sports.

All 10 sessions of the meet will come through live on USASwimming.org, per a livestream schedule. You can view that here. Prelims will start at 9 AM local time and finals at 5 PM. With the meet taking place in Palo Alto, California, that means U.S. Pacific Time – east coast viewers will have much later livestream times, with prelims at noon and finals at 8 PM.

You can watch all sessions of the 2019 U.S. Junior Nationals here.

Live results don’t yet show heat sheets, but we do have psych sheets. Most of the top juniors swam at last week’s senior nationals, which served as the selection meet for the World Junior Championships. But quite a few of those big names are sticking around Palo Alto to compete again this week. That includes Lillie Nordmann, Claire Tuggle and Rye Ulett.

Looks like Tuggle is swimming the 800 Free and 400 IM; skipping the events she focused on at seniors. Interesting to see where she will be at with the higher distance.

For those doing both – What are the theories on holding taper for the second meet? Do most taper for nationals then hold on for juniors? Interested in the science behind it all, or is it more art than science? In any event, good luck to all!

On top of that, they will be swimming again in Budapest in 2 weeks. Almost the worst length of time period to get back into shape again

Can someone explain why the Junior National World Championships team is picked from the Senior National Championships rather than the Junior National meet. Just seems odd to me.

CT Swim Fan – I think it’s because they want the top junior swimmers racing at Senior Nationals. If they chose the team from Juniors, that encourages those top Junior swimmers to race only at Juniors instead (some places, there’s a reason to believe that they’ll swim both, but in Palo Alto, the full 2 week run becomes incredibly expensive).

Jared Anderson swam for nearly twenty years. Then, Jared Anderson stopped swimming and started writing about swimming. He's not sick of swimming yet. Swimming might be sick of him, though. Jared was a YMCA and high school swimmer in northern Minnesota, and spent his college years swimming breaststroke and occasionally pretending …
