Michigan Adds Diving Trio for 2018-19 Season

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — University of Michigan diving coach Mike Hilde announced on Thursday (Aug. 2) the additions of divers Miranda Eberle (Saline, Michigan/Virginia Tech), Allie Klein (Melbourne, Australia) and Camryn McPherson (Saline, Michigan/Ohio State) to the women’s swimming and diving team for the 2018-19 season.

“With these three in the fold, our diving program is now as deep as it’s been in a long time,” said Hilde, who enters his fifth year as diving coach. “All three divers have their own specialty and will make our training group better.”

Miranda Eberle

Saline, Michigan | Virginia Tech
Eberle transfers in after spending her first two years at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. At the 2018 ACC Championships, she qualified for the final on platform, finishing eighth. She was also 27th on one-meter and 31st on three-meter. She qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in both of her years at Virginia Tech, finishing 10th on platform last year, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Allie Klein

Melbourne, Australia | Firbank Grammar School
Klein is an Australian international who graduated from Firbank Grammar School in Brighton and dove club for the Victorian Institute of Sport. At the 2017 Australian Open Championships and World Cup Trials, Klein finished fourth on synchro platform, seventh on one-meter and ninth on three-meter. She won both the one- and three-meter springboards at the 2018 Victorian Open Championships. Klein represented Australia at the 2016 FINA Grand Prix at Gold Coast, finishing fourth in synchro platform and taking ninth on one-meter.

Camryn McPherson

Saline, Michigan | Ohio State
McPherson comes to Ann Arbor after spending last year at Ohio State. She scored in all three events at the 2018 Big Ten Championships, finishing 16th on one-meter, 20th on platform and 24th on three-meter. At the 2017 USA Diving National Championships, McPherson placed fifth on one-meter for the 16-18 Girls division.
