WOMEN’S 200 BREAST – FINALS
- Lilly King – Indiana, 2:24.83
- Annie Lazor – Unattached, 2:26.55
- Mariia Astashkina – Louisville, 2:27.87
This was all Lilly King, the world record holder in the 100 breast. She was out at 1:09.31 after 100 meters, and finished it out in 2:24.83, a tenth ahead of her season best from Indy. She remains at 19th in the world rankings.
Annie Lazor, who swam undergrad for Auburn and is racing Unattached – Mission Viejo, grabbed 2nd with a 2:26.55. That time is her 4th-fastest ever.
Louisville’s Mariia Astashkina was 2:27.87 for 3rd, edging out Michigan’s Miranda Tucker (2:28.22).
Lilly is losing her game and finger wagging ability – she will not be winning much internationally but will be whining.
If King wants to truly be the best, she needs to start beating Efimova in the 200 br. King always gets hyped up for the 50 and then the 100, but then this vanishes once the 200 rolls around
wow phelps was so bad evertime the 200 breast rolled around he vanished… logic op
What? Did someone mention Phelps swimming the 200 breast?
Poor, poor argument. Phelps approached every race with the same attitude and the same arm slaps. Not to mention the 200 breast was never even one of his top 7 races. I’m just curious why she doesn’t bring the same swagger to the 200 breast. It just seems King knows she is outmatched in the 200 and knows it.
Get it, girl!
I love this rivalry so, so much.
Go for it Lilly !!!
Hey she never said it was because Yuliya did that time! It’s probably just a coincidence!
It’s unusual for a swimmer like Lilly to announce her time goal before a swim like this, but I suppose we’re all expecting her to try to top Yulia anyway, so maybe it’s not that surprising. Having this type of in-season virtual race going on between Lilly and Yulia certainly makes in-season/non-taper meets like PSS Columbus more exciting.
the only was yulia is doing this is by doping
