Am ersten Tag der German Open konnten sich Lisa Graf und Franziska Hentke mit der Unterbietung der geforderten Normzeiten für die Europameisterschaften in Glasgow empfehlen. Hentke unterbot die Norm über 200 m Schmetterling im Finale um 0,01 Sekunden, ihre Siegerzeit: 2:07,21 Minuten. Lisa Graf zeigte über 200 m Rücken eine solide Leistung in 2:08,32 Minuten.
Während Christian Diener morgens noch nach 1:56,92 Minuten anschlug und damit die Sollzeit für den Vorlauf unterbot, konnte er sich am Abend nicht mehr steigern, die Uhr blieb nach 1:57,06 (Norm 1:56,37) für ihn stehen. Er kann aber u.U. über den Umweg über die 100m Rücken als Staffelstarter auch noch zu einem Start über die 200 m Rücken kommen.
