The clock is ticking for the German swimmers because the qualification period for the European LC Championships 2018 will expire on April, 29th.
The Swim Cup Eindhoven is another chance for the athletes to crack the nomination standards. The German Swimmining Federation (DSV) will send 36 swimmers officially to the Swim Cup including many youngsters who will try to qualify for the European LC Youth Championships in July in Helsinki.
The journey to Eindhoven is part of a cooperation with the Dutch Swimming Federation, Netherlands national squad will participate at the German Open which are held in Berlin from April 20 – 22.
German top swimmers like Marco Koch, Christian Diener, Johannes Hintze, Poul Zellmann, Fabian Schwingenschlögl, Lisa Graf, Jenny Mensing, Isabel Gose, Reva Foos will try to dip under the qualification standards. Damian Wierling is the only German swimmer participating in Eindhoven who is already qualified for an individual event (50m freestyle).
In contrast to the 2017 qualifying procedure, the swimmers could reach the nomination standards during a qualification period which will last from January 22nd to April 29th, 2018. The qualifying procedure in 2017 only allowed the athletes to qualify for the 2017 LC World Championships and SC European World Championships at the German National Championships last June.
The German Swimming Federation lowered also the time standards for the relays. At the moment, all relays (except the men’s 4 x 100 m freestyle) will get a chance to compete in Glasgow and normally, relay swimmers will get the permission to start in individual events, whether or not they have received the individual nomination standard. It is possible to announce up to four swimmers per individual event for a nation.
You find the qualified swimmer and the nomination standards below. Note: Swimmers, born 1996 or later, have special qualification times for the European Championships in Glasgow.
Already qualified swimmers are printed in bold letters. Nomination times which are FASTER than the actualGerman national record are printed in bold numbers. | ||||||
