Denison’s KT Kustritz Breaks 100 Breast Meet Record in Prelims

2018 NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Women’s 100 Yard Breaststroke – Prelims

  • NCAA Record: 1:00.50 12/1/2017 KT Kustritz, Denison
  • Meet Record: 1:00.85 3/22/2013 Amy Spaay, UW Whitewater

Denison sophomore and KT Kustritz swam 1:00.63 in heats of the 100 breast, winning her heat by a body length and taking down the NCAA Division III Championship Meet Record of 1:00.85 that was set by UW-Whitewater’s Amy Spaay in 2013.

Although she broke the meet record, it is not Kustritz’s fastest performance. She broke the overall NCAA Division III Record in November 2017 at the Miami University 24th Annual Invitational at Corwin Nixon Natatorium. After going a personal-best 1:00.71 in prelims, she came back that evening to win the women’s 100 breast in 1:00.50 for the record.

This morning’s 1:00.63 is her second-best time. At the Miami Invitational, Kustritz went faster on both halves of her race at night to swim the 1:00.50. Here’s how it splits out:
