Penn Charter Boys Break 11-12 National Age Group Relay Record By 7 Seconds

Another National Age Group Record has gone down, in a different region of the country, as the boys of Penn Charter Aquatic Club have broken the 11-12 National Age Group mark in the 400 medley relay with a 4:22.44. Not only did they beat the record, they absolutely obliterated it. The old mark was set by the South Florida Aquatic Club last year in 4:29.66.

Alessandro Boratto – 1:04.91
Reece Whitley – 1:12.33
Andrew Abruzzo – 1:04.24
Connor Killion – 1:00.96
Total – 4:29.66

This relay, by most accounts, would be a pretty decent 11-12 relay in yards. But in a 50 meter pool, that’s astoundingly-good. This is a team that hasn’t gotten much recognition nationally, but especially in their younger age groups, they’re developing a great core of swimmers. A wing of the William Penn Charter School, this is a relatively new team – launching in the spring of 2003 with a single swimmer and a single coach. It’s now ballooned into a huge program in downtown Philadelphia and is thriving.
