WOMEN’S 200 BREAST:
- NCAA Record: Lilly King (Indiana), 2017, 2:03.18
- American Record: Lilly King (Indiana), 2017, 2:03.18
- Championship Record: Lilly King (Indiana), 2017, 2:03.18
- 2017 Champion: Lilly King (Indiana), 2:03.18
- GOLD: Lilly King, Indiana, 2:02.60
- SILVER: Bethany Galat, Texas A&M, 2:03.26
- BRONZE: Sydney Pickrem, Texas A&M, 2:05.79
Indiana’s Lilly King was under her record pace up front in 26.96. She was right on record pace at the 100 in 58.39. She held steady through the back half, smashing the American Record in 2:02.60. Texas A&M’s Bethany Galat, who started to close in on the back half, was just shy of the former record in 2:03.26. Teammate Sydney Pickrem was 3rd in 2:05.79, followed by Michigan’s Miranda Tucker in 2:06.73.
Lilly breaking out in the 200? As if she wasn’t the fastest American at Trials…
I think she is maturing.
It may be her “big 200 summer” but it is only PanPacs this year, and winning there really doesn’t show where she is against the rest of the world
it’s a shame she’s doomed to only have one good 200 summer in her career
I just don’t see her being a great 200 swimmer at the world/Olympic level
Are you or are you not aware that she placed 4th at worlds last year?
I am, but unlike the 100, I don’t really think she’s repeated a great 200 at this level yet. PanPacs really isn’t the place to get this measure since so much of the world is not there. Maybe in 2019/2020 she can be extremely competitive in the 200, but I don’t think she is there yet
I think she meant that as in it will be the summer where she spends more time working on/racing her 200 because she can lose some of her speed in the 100 and still be miles ahead of anyone else at pan pacs. She’s improved quite a lot in her 200 so far and I think she just wants to be able to hit the podium in the 200 in the next couple years while remaining dominant in the 100.
The King has great interviews, seems well spoken, and is one amazing swimmer.
Yea but she was mean to Efimova. So we have to hate her.
love*
Its going to be a great summer with those motivated and talented girls ….
She always gives fantastic interviews, right behind Madison Kenedy in that department for me.
Sign me up for that class!
Lol Lilly King the PE teacher.
