That’s bullshit about the no sleep aids. It should be done on case by case basis.

Yep. Even Phelps takes stillnox for three nights to offset jetlags

Oh I didn’t know that about Phelps; that’s interesting. Stillnox (Ambien) is not a first choice;it can be a little tricky for some folks with the side effects and potential for tolerance if not prescribed properly so it needs close supervision. Its not something to be prescribed casually for the first time at the Olympics (or something to be stopped suddenly if its taken regularly). But again its something that can be reviewed by a team doc for all national team members taking or requesting sleep meds. Wonder what the U.S. Swimming policy is for these situations?
